UI, SCG Supply Drive Collects Over 400 Essential Items for Bridgeport Rescue Mission
Employee-led drive donates 417 food and personal items to support individuals in need in the community
ORANGE, Conn. — September 29, 2026 — United Illuminating (UI) and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), subsidiaries of Avangrid, Inc., announced the result of an employee-led supply drive supporting the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, collecting 417 essential items including toiletries, non‑perishable food, and personal care products.

Employees across UI and SCG contributed to the effort, helping ensure the Mission can continue providing critical support to individuals and families facing food insecurity and housing challenges in the Greater Bridgeport community. The Bridgeport Rescue Mission has been helping neighbors in need since 1993, providing food, safe housing, clothing, education, job training, and counseling. UI and SCG have partnered with the organization on multiple community initiatives, reinforcing the companies’ commitment to supporting local nonprofits that deliver direct, meaningful impact.
